Kids Martial Arts:  Fitness, Defense and Self-Discipline

Many young people are drawn to the excitement and fun of Martial Arts. They learn effective self defense skills and develop their physical abilities; becoming more fit, coordinated and agile in the course of their training. That initial draw and excitement is met with gradual challenge, which keeps students motivated. They continually strive forward, improving their abilities and learning the value of persistence.

In a good youth martial arts program the member is developing their mind and self-image along with their bodies. Training in the arts requires (and develops) the ability to be deepy focused and disciplined - skills that prove to be highly useful beyond the studio. The young martial artist cultivates a higher level of personal awareness and self-confidence that will serve them well in dealing with the pressures of their life.

NWIA's Youth Power Mission Statement:

At Northwest Internal Arts (NWIA), we strive to provide martial arts training that encourages personal growth and development within each of our students, emphasizing both physical and mental conditioning.   Our gentle support and varied curriculum inspires students to see beyond their current potential and to reach new levels of personal success.  Students at NWIA benefit from their training by setting goals and achieving them, building character, and improving confidence and self-esteem.  We approach the entirety of our students, blooming in them traditional martial arts values of respect, self-discipline, honor, integrity, family, and courage, while cultivating leadership skills and social accountability.

Our school environment is above all supportive, as we focus on guiding each student in their martial arts experience toward discovering and claiming their own internal power while teaching the discipline and ethics to take responsibility for that power.  We at NWIA believe that the martial artist is meant to be an active and positive influence within their community, providing both opportunity and encouragement for our youth to don such a role. The martial arts are more than a sport or after-school activity – they are a way of being, a journey.  It is our mission to be both guide and catalyst for each of our students on this path, nurturing their success to improve the individual, the school, the martial art, and the community.

The Martial Arts we teach:

NWIA's youth martial arts program is primarily based in Muay Thai, Boxing, and Jiu Jitsu.  We teach with a focus on developing a deep understanding of all of the techniques in our curriculum.  Every student receives the individual coaching needed to excel in the martial arts.
